Product Description
Designed for families with children ages four through ten, this Bible story book takes a panoramic, chronological look at the character of God. “Do as David did. Don’t do as Saul did. Follow this Old Testament person, but not that New Testament person.” That’s what you may find in many Bible story books. In Mighty Acts of God Starr Meade takes a new approach to teaching the Bible to elementary school aged children: she focuses not on characters in Scripture,… More >>

Are you looking for an audio Bible story for your children to listen while falling asleep or while traveling?
This is it! If you have nights where you get home late and don’t have time to read to your children before tucking them in, this audio version makes for a wonderful substitute or supplement even if you do have time.
Ninety Bible accounts are told in lively form and are easy for children of all ages to understand. Each story is followed with application and discussion questions that will, at the least, get your children thinking and hopefully interacting with you, too.
I appreciated the focus on God’s character throughout each story and the sound and deep Biblical truth it teaches in a very light way. This audio book has 7 CDs with a total running time of 8 hours and 45 minutes. Mighty Acts Of God is a wonderful resource to add to your children’s bookshelf!

As I read through the reviews already written for this book I can only say a huge DITTO!
They have all said it more eloquently than I could.
A couple of things I want to add-
*my daughters love listening to these devotionals, sometimes when you read Bible stories to children you see their minds slip away. This has not been the case with this book in our home.
*the stories are arranged in a clear and logical way
*the application questions make sense to a wide variety of age groups
*they can easily be used in group setting or one on one with children.
Great product and book.

With the abundance of children’s Bibles and Bible story books, many of these books focus on the stories as wise lessons in morality. A few highlight the overarching theme of redemption in Scripture. But even fewer books focus on what each of these stories teach about the author of the book, God himself. In Mighty Acts of God, Starr Meade attempts to take well known stories of the Bible and emphasize what each one teaches us about an attribute or characteristic of God.
Each story is roughly three, sometimes four pages long and is accompanied by colorful illustrations picturing what is happening in the story. The stories are interpreted through the lens of reformed theology, each one containing a colored summary statement of that particular teaching. At the end of each story is a box titled “As for me and my house” that gives parents ideas for further discussion with their children.
Perhaps the most helpful feature of the book is in the title of each story. Each story opens with the title and then a subheading telling what we should expect to learn about God from that story. It’s helpful knowing what to look for in a story from the start and watch for evidences of the main point. For example, the story of God calling Abraham is subtitled “God Chooses People to Belong to Him;” the story of Jonah is subtitled “God’s Power to Save Has No Limits;” the story of how Nebuchadnezzar lost his mind is subtitled “God is the Supreme King over All Kings;” and the story of Paul’s conversion is subtitled “God Conquers His Enemies by His Grace.”
While the book’s target audience is elementary school-age children between four and ten, the book seems a little heady for the younger end of that spectrum. Even though all children are different in their levels of understanding and comprehension, in general I definitely think this book is better suited to older children, perhaps ages 7 through 10.
In a market surrounded by man-centered tales of morality and sage advice, the concept of the book is needed and refreshing. With this book, children can learn to look for what Bible stories teach about God himself rather than what earthly examples to follow in order to be good. I would recommend this book.

If you are looking for a book to perfectly compliment your kid’s Sunday school class, Starr Meade has written it. Mighty Acts of God has 90 of the best known Bible stories and break them down into digestible pieces that the smaller kids can grasp.
It covers the points of the stories and how they apply to the lives of the young Christian as they find their way to the Lord.
The stories are taken from the Bible, but the author has taken time to point out things that will stimulate discussion from the children. This is really the strong point of the book. Many questions will arise, whether in Sunday school, or in your personal study time with your child. This book can also answer some of those questions. It even reminded me of a few things that I had forgotten!
The illustrations in the book by Tim O’Connor are well-done and capture the scene’s being described perfectly. Tim has a very Disney-ish style, it reminds me of the artwork for Aladdin. The facial expressions of the characters really communicated with me, and that is sometimes lost in other children’s literature.
This book accomplishes what it set out to do. Teach the Bible and reach kids.

One of the most important things that I believe parents can do for their children is to ensure that they are raised with a strong Christian foundation. One of the best ways to do this is to spend time together doing family devotions. Mighty Acts of God: A Family Bible Story Book teaches kids Bible stories about Moses, Elijah, Rahab, Samson, Saul, Paul, Timothy and so many more. The first thing that caught my eye about this book is the illustrations. I love that the illustrator (Tim O’Connor) chose to use classic illustrations instead of the cartoon type ones that have become widely popular. I feel it better suits a family devotional to have classic illustrations. Also, I love that the book has questions for you to work through with your kids after you read the Bible story. This book is written for ages 4-10, but I think the questions are better suited for the older children. One thing I would have loved to see is easier questions or activites for the younger children. The devotionals are very well written, however it’s very hard to write a devotional that can keep the attention of both a 4 year old and 10 year old, and I would say it’s geared towards the older children.
