I was not even going to watch Bill Moyers that Friday, but wtf nothing better was on cable.

OMG I was blown away, b4 the show was 1/2 way over I was on line ordering the book.

It soon b/came my bff and I have given it to all my retro friends and relatives.

U got to read it one chapter at a time and then go back and listen to the cd that comes w/it.

A great companion work to it is Paglia’s _Break Blow Burn_.

LOL to think and ponder y I never saw things like this a 1/2 century ago when they were trying to hammer them into me in hs. Better late than never.

I originally obtained the book from my local library. I loved it so much, I purchased it from Amazon. An old German proverb says, “Books, like friends, should be few and well chosen.” This book is a treasure that I will return to again and again. It is a “pathway” to other important books (such as Jack Kerouac’s “On The Road”)that I have heard of but will now read. John Lithgow outdid himself. Thank you John!

This is a great book but the pricing is odd. While this is one of the few I would rather own in hardcover than on my kindle, it should not cost 4 dollars more on kindle.

I read a lot of books and listen to a lot of audible books. This book has both. The mp3 of various celebrities reading each of the poems is magical. The book is a heavenly read. It is the best purchase I have made in years and years. I can’t wait until Christmas because I am giving this as gifts to several of my most favorite people in the world.

I love this book and will read and listen to it over and over and over. It not only makes me love the poems included, but it points me toward more poems and poets that I want to know more about. I mean it, the best purchase I have made in years and years!!!!

John Lithgow did a fantastic job compiling this book and adding his own commentary and personal stories. And the celebrities reading the poems, Jody Foster, Gary Sinise, Morgan Freeman, Sam Waterson, Lynn Redgrave, on and on, OMG!!!
